Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 18, 2026

Automac IT is developed by beautifulplanet. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it. We designed the product to minimize data collection.

1. What We Collect

2. What We Do NOT Collect

No telemetry. The extension sends no usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral data to us.
No file contents. We never see your files, folders, or system information.
No conversation data. Your AI conversations are between your machine and the AI provider (GitHub Copilot or Anthropic). We do not receive, store, or have access to them.
No cookies on our website beyond what Google Ads requires (see Section 6).
No account creation. There is no user account. Your email is only used to deliver your license key.

3. AI Provider Data

When you use Automac IT, your messages and scrubbed tool output are sent to the AI provider you configure (GitHub Copilot or Anthropic). This is a direct connection from your machine to the provider. We are not a party to that data flow.

Tool output is scrubbed of PII (usernames, IPs, credentials, etc.) before being sent to the AI. See our Compliance Guide for the full list of scrubbed patterns.
User-typed messages are sent as-is to the AI provider. Do not type sensitive information (passwords, SSNs, etc.) into the chat.
The AI provider's own privacy policy governs their handling of your data.

4. Local Data

The extension stores the following data locally on your machine only:

Session logs: Markdown files in a folder you choose. All text is PII-scrubbed before writing. You control and can delete these at any time.
Audit logs: JSON files in %APPDATA%/automac-it/audit/ recording which scrub rules fired (not the actual PII). Auto-deleted after 30 days.
VS Code settings: Your extension preferences, stored in VS Code's standard settings system.

None of this local data is transmitted to us or any third party.

5. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your credit card number, billing address, or other payment details. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.

6. Website Analytics

Our website (automac-it.pages.dev) uses Google Ads conversion tracking to measure ad effectiveness. This may set cookies in your browser. No analytics data is collected from the VS Code extension itself.

7. Data Retention

License records: Stored indefinitely while your license is active. If you request deletion, we will remove your record from our license server.
Stripe data: Retained by Stripe per their retention policy and legal requirements.
Local data: You control it. Delete session logs and audit logs at any time.

8. Your Rights

You can request:

Access: What data we have about you (email + license key + machine IDs).
Deletion: Remove your license record from our server. This will deactivate your license.
Correction: Update the email associated with your license.

9. Children

Automac IT is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's changelog.
